My version of the Biggy sweater!

My version of the Biggy sweater!

I had the pleasure of test knitting the Biggy sweater for Maria Jesus Camus, the pattern just released yesterday! It has been a long time since I took part in a test knit for another designer, and I have to say this was such a joyful experience!

First of all, the pattern is clear and straight forward. The gauge is bulky and you achieve it by holding together several strands of yarn. This was the opportunity for me to get creative, so I decided I wanted a light base color. I used Wensley Worsted in Blanc held with two strands of Soyeux in Pretty in Pink, and one strand of Alix in Vibin' and another in Howl & Sophie all the way through. I used mini skeins of Merino Sport in various colors, which I switched every 2 or 4 rows to get a beautiful mix of bright colors.

Sometimes, I switched the Soyeux to Fluoro Morganite when I wanted a pink moment (see the band in the middle of the bust, or the cuss of the sleeves). And sometimes I replaced Vibin' with Sunburst wen I wanted a yellow moment (see the ribbing for the collar and body).

I knit size 3. My only modification was to reduce the sleeves by 6 stitches just before the ribbing. I haven't blocked the sweater yet, and I think I will steam it, instead of wet blocking, as I love the size and don't want it to grow too much...

Here is the list of the yarn I used:

4 skeins of Wensley Worsted in Blanc

2 skeins of Soyeux in Pretty in Pink

1 skein of Soyeux in Fluoro Morganite

2 skeins of Alix in Vibin'

2 skeins of Alix in Howl & Sophie

1 mini skein of Alix in Sunburst

2 mini skeins of Merino Sport each in the following colors:

Pixy Stix, As If, Yellow Brick Road, Buzz, Dawn, Hella, Anemone

3 mini skeins of Merino Sport in Julia
