The Wheel of the Year is a collection based on seasonal festivals. It marks the year’s big solar events, solstices and equinoxes, and the midpoints in the seasons.
In addition to individual skeins, we carry a bundle of 8 minis in Twist Nouveau, one of each color.
The first color in this collection is Imbolc, which marks the return of the light and first signs of spring, traditionally celebrated on February 1st. In anticipation for the year’s new life, it is a time for purification / cleansing and spring cleaning. Imbolc is a beautiful, nuanced color, mixing grey with brown, almost purple tones. This color will pair perfectly with some of our other deep neutrals, like Quartz Fumé and Loam.
Our second color, Ostara, marks the celebration of spring, the return of new life and new beginnings. It is symbolised by fresh spring flowers and decorated eggshells. So let us welcome in a beautiful spring after a cold and harsh winter and celebrate Ostara with a fresh bouquet of delicately speckled skeins of yarn!
Ostara is a beautiful, light color with nuances of warm yellow, symbolising the return of the sun after winter. It is delicately speckled with hints of pink, blue, yellow and black.
We welcome our third color, Beltane! Inspired by the vibrant hues of the Wheel of the Year, this stunning shade captures the essence of renewal and vitality.
Picture-perfect pinks dance harmoniously with delicate greens, creating a fresh burst of color that's perfect for springtime knitting projects. Let your needles be your wand as you weave the energy of Beltane into every stitch.
Litha is a festival of light, sun, abundance, prosperity, and joy is a radiant new color inspired by the enchanting pagan holiday of the same name. At its peak, the warm sun shines down blessings for a plentiful harvest of ripened crops, levity, and delight. It's a time to revel in the outdoors, immerse yourself in nature, and kindle bonfires under the starlit sky.
As we celebrate the transition from the height of summer to the abundance of autumn, we're thrilled to introduce Lughnasadh, our new color inspired by the ancient festival marking the start of the harvest season. A deep, dark golden yellow tinged with hints of brown, this color embodies the warmth and richness of early August fields.
Mabon is a warm, medium pink with earthy clay and purple undertones, sitting beautifully alongside Bois de Rose, Clay, and Alba. It reminds me of dried rose petals. Deep and subtle, it's perfect for creating pieces that reflect the richness of the season.
Celebrated from October 31 to November 1, Samhain marks the end of the harvest and the start of winter—the "darker half" of the year. It's the magical midpoint between the autumn equinox and winter solstice, and the Irish language name for November.
Samhain’s palette is a celebration of rich, deep jewel tones: ruby pink, emerald green, navy blue, and mustard yellow. These colors come together to evoke the spirit of the season, perfect for your autumn and winter knits.
Yule, the last color of our Wheel of the Year collection, is a variagated blend of moody browns, rust, blue, green, and gold, symbolizing the Yule log and the cheer of the holiday season. Like our Dusk colorway but with a festive twist, Yule will add depth and warmth to your knits.
