My dear friend and designer extraordinaire, Joji Locatelli, has designed a brand new shawl pattern using a La Bien Aimée color I created exclusively for Barcelona Knits 2022! Crystal Fantasy shawl is knit in brand new colorway Azulita, and uses one skein of Merino Singles and one skein of Kumo. Joji was inspired by the shape of her popular Fading Point shawl for Crystal Fantasy. The wrap is worked from both ends, meaning you knit two identical pieces, and then join them together in the middle.
Here are a few words by Joji:
“The moment I received this yarn, it made me think of beautiful gemstones, sparkling in a myriad of colors.
I designed a shawl with a geometric, almost crystal like shape, with diamonds and ridges, to capture this effect.”
Joji used the colorway Azulita, which I designed especially to celebrate the 2022 edition of Barcelona Knits. Azulita is a beautiful mix of green with orange and pink speckles. It’s a happy, fresh color that sparkles like a gem. You can find our special Crystal Fantasy bundles at the La Bien Aimée booth at Barcelona Knits festival and on the La Bien Aimée online shop now. We will have these bundles in Azulita, as well as in another brand new colorway called Street Art.
Street Art has been in development for a little while now, and I’ve been waiting for the perfect time to release it. It is a variegated grey and white base with rainbow speckles. I love this mix of super colorful speckles against a neutral base color. It reminds me of the graffiti on the streets of Paris, that’s why I called it Street Art.
