Pattern highlight: Rockrose by Midori Hirose
Rockrose by Midori Hirose has quickly become one of my favorite sweaters. I fell in love with Midori’s designs during her visit to the La Bien Aimée Pop-Up last winter, and ever since, I haven’t been able to stop knitting her patterns!
Rockrose features a simple, elegant shape with a boat neckline and raglan sleeves, brought to life with delicate flower motifs created using the traditional Estonian inlay technique called Roosimine. It looks like embroidery, but the effect is achieved by weaving contrast yarn through the stitches as you knit—a beautiful and surprisingly meditative process.
For my version, I used 5 skeins of Corrie Worsted in Winterfell as the main color to let the flowers really shine. The blooms themselves are a mix of minis from our LIX Collection: Alix Sunburst, Felix Fluoro Morganite, Avoine, and Dawn.
While Corrie gives a lovely rustic structure, you could just as easily use Wensley Worsted for the body. And for the floral motifs, any LIX base held double works beautifully. With so many colorful minis to choose from, this is a perfect project for playing with color.
