Knitprovisation is a shawl designed by Stephen West using Corrie Worsted and featured in the book, Worsted, A Knitwear Collection Curated by Aimée Gille of La Bien Aimée. This shawl is inspired by Stephen's Fantastitch. Like a lot of his other designs, Knitprovisation features a selection of striking texture stitches that really make the pattern very engaging to knit.

Starting with really juicy cables, then drifting into twisted ribbing, honeycomb cables and a simple feather and fan border, this shawl is as fun to knit as it is easy to wear. Choose one skein of each of your five favorite colors, and you are ready to knit!

Here is what Stephen wrote as the inspiration for his design:

“I am initially inspired by yarn when I begin each design, so the plush worsted weight thickness and cozy non-superwash feeling of Corrie Worsted immediately brought cables into my imagination. I love semi-circular construction because it's very easy to knit, that way you can relax and enjoy the calm rows without constantly counting too much. Yellow Brick Road is one of my favorite La Bien Aimée colorways, so I knew there needed to be some golden honeycomb cables somewhere in the shawl. I improvised the other stitch patterns while I designed the fabric, so I hope that same rhythm of playfulness and excitement translates to your needles while you knit this textural shawl.”
