We have two brand new Miyazaki colors coming Monday September 19th at 4pm Paris time!
For those of you who have been following me for a while, you will know of my love for the filmmaker Hayao Miyazaki, and I hold his films very close to my heart. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind is a post-apocalyptic 1984 film about a prophetic young princess who fights back against those who want to destroy the “Sea of Decay”, a jungle spoiled by toxic waste and human pollution.
As well as the film’s aesthetic beauty and sublime use of color (a hallmark in Miyazaki’s work), I am inspired by the courage of Princess Nausicaa to fight for her future and the future of her planet at just 16 years old. This film came out nearly four decades ago, but it feels like in that time, it has only become more relevant to our world today.
These two colors are a love letter to all the inspiring young women who are standing up in the face of uncertainty, just like Princess Nausicaa. You got this girls…
The color Nausicaa takes inspiration from the princess’s short brown hair and lilac-blue aviation jacket that she wears throughout the film. The color Sea of Decay blends deep emerald green base tones with delicate lilac mid tones, and flashes of bright lime green.
Both colors will be released on Monday 19th September at 4pm Paris time, on the following bases: Merino Bouclé, Merino Aran, Merino DK, Merino Sport, Cashmerino, Merino Singles, Merino Super Sock, and Big Merino.
Just like our last Miyazaki color launch, we will be dyeing to order. Any order placed in the next 2 weeks will be dyed specifically for you, and any other products in those orders will be held until the entire order is ready to ship (roughly 1-2 weeks from the order date)
