Stratified is a sweater designed by Tif Neilan using Corrie Worsted and featured in the book, Worsted, A Knitwear Collection Curated by Aimée Gille of La Bien Aimée. This beautiful raglan sweater creates a unique color story and allows the knitter to push themself to go on a color adventure. You can choose any five colors and end up with a different sweater everytime. Alternating color block with thinner stripes and eyelet rows, this sweater really lets the yarn shine.
With her leftovers, Tif also designed the Strata hat. This clever hat design using slipped stitches and simple colorwork creates a warm fabric with the different colored stitches looking like speckles.
“My inspiration for this design is the changing of the seasons and how there are specific and prominent colors we tend to associate with each one. I wanted a fun design that would bring together a complete palette of a particular season while also allowing each color to stand alone. Autumn, which is my favorite season, is the inspiration behind the color palette for my sample. I liked the idea that one could essentially convey any of the 4 seasons depending on the color palette chosen.
The colorblock design of this pattern uses 5 colorways within a 4-stripe repeat. The manner in which the color transitions flow through the pattern allows a particular color to appear in differing size stripes throughout. The raglan shaping emphasizes the clean lines of the stripes while subtle texture and eyelets enhance the pattern and keep the knitter engaged to the end. This pattern is written for a cropped or full length body as well as a cropped or full length sleeve, providing the knitter with a variety of finished knit options.”
