Soldotna

Cropped sweaters have become a popular new trend in knitting recently. I always sort of ignored these kinds of sweaters thinking that they wouldn't look right on me. My torso is long but thick and my waist and hips are almost the same circumference but I wanted to give it a try and see if I could make it work with my wardrobe.

Lightness of a "Kumo" 雲

La Bien Aimée Kumo is our newest and softest LBA base to date! Lightness of hand and the softness of  Baby suri Alpaca and mulberry silk will make this yarn a joy to wear against the skin.  From top to bottom: Bois de Rose, Dawn, Fiori, Sansa & Yellow Brick Road. Kumo 雲 stands for cloud in Japanese. Inspired by my recent travels to Japan, I felt inspired to bring an alternative fibre to our yarn line that will give you the feeling of wearing the lightness of clouds. This is a great yarn to hold together with any of our...

La Bien Aimée x Mondim

I am very excited about my newest yarn collaboration. Usually, I work with designers to provide yarn support for designs that use La Bien Aimée. It is an extremely satisfying process to see how my yarn is transformed into a garment. Then I take the pleasure of knitting said garment.  But my newest collaboration has allowed me to work with not a designer of knitwear but instead a designer of yarn: Rosa Pomar. She is the owner of Retrosaria Rosa Pomar and the creator of her own yarn line, Rosa Pomar.  I approached Rosa last year and asked her about dyeing...

La Bien Aimée Merino DK in Peanut Butter and Jelly, Calliopa, Andromeda and Cassiopeia.

Peanut Butter & Jelly

Peanut Butter and Jelly is one of our oldest colorways. Inspired by childhood comforts of eating a sandwich stuffed with crunchy peanut butter and concord grape jelly. We developed Calliope as a gradient sister color to Peanut Butter and Jelly. Calliope melts right into another old but goodie color of ours called Andromeda. Finally, the fourth color of the set is Cassiopeia. The softest two-tone grey and goes from warm to cold tones with a subtle hint of color that smashes through like stars at night.    We are finishing up the last skeins for Edinburgh Yarn Festival and we will...

Fantastitch!!

Our LBA Fantastitch KAL ended this summer, but let's just say it took me a bit longer to finish my shawl... This project was epic and I love everything about it! Just in case you missed it, I am talking about the Fantastitch shawl by Stephen West, and I knit it using the Julia kit, available here.

La Bien Aimée is five!

I can hardly believe that it's been five years since I started my yarn company. It seems just like yesterday that I was setting up in our tiny studio on rue Paulin Mery. It was just Hiro and I and I would run over after lunch shifts at my cafe, L'OisiveThé, to create colors and test new dye techniques out.

Stonecrop

I have continued on with my streak of light colored sweaters. After my subtle So Faded cropped, I started right into my Stonecrop pullover, a pattern by Andrea Mowry. I wanted something that would go with all my dresses and be timeless across all seasons.
