Top-Down Shawl Workshop With Stephen West

Join Stephen West for an inspiring and playful workshop dedicated to the magic of top-down shawl construction. In this 2.5-hour class, Stephen will share his approach to shawl shapes and walk you through a series of mini shawl swatches, designed to help you understand how shape, stitches, and color come together.

You’ll learn how to work and modify different top-down shawl shapes using Stephen’s signature “shape recipes,” including triangle and semi-circular constructions. The class will also explore a variety of increase methods and ways to personalize your shawls with texture, stitch patterns, and colorful stripes.

Class level: Beginners and beyond (ideal for adventurous beginners)
Duration: 2.5 hours
Language: English with French translation

Materials to bring:
  • Fingering-weight yarn in a variety of colors
  • Circular needles, US 4 / 3.5 mm

Stephen will also provide additional yarns and colors for you to experiment with during the workshop.

About the instructor:
Stephen West is an internationally renowned knitwear designer celebrated for his fearless use of color and innovative shawl constructions. Based in Amsterdam, he is the creative force behind Westknits, co-owner of the yarn shop Stephen & Penelope, and co-founder of West Wool. Stephen teaches workshops around the world, hosts popular knit-alongs, and shares design insights through his books and YouTube channel.
Location: Paris 13th arrondissement.

Rejoignez Stephen West pour un atelier inspirant autour des formes de châles tricotés du haut vers le bas. À travers de petits échantillons, il partagera ses « recettes de formes » et vous guidera dans la construction de châles triangulaires et semi-circulaires.

Vous explorerez différentes augmentations et découvrirez comment personnaliser vos châles grâce aux points et aux rayures colorées, dans l’esprit créatif de Westknits.

Niveau : débutant·e aventureux·se et plus
Langue : cours en anglais avec traduction en français

À apporter : fil fingering en plusieurs couleurs et aiguilles circulaires 3,5 mm (US 4)
